ABOUT RON BOLENDER known as Ron the House Doctor:

• First fulltime job out of college was inspecting all Corporate owned properties and buildings for Canadian Tire Corp., graduated from the Architectural Design Program at Humber College in 1971.
• Formed his first contracting company in March 1976, applying textured coatings to exterior of buildings and insulating houses.
• Was involved with developing the first CGSB specification for installation of cellulose fiber insulation, 1979 – 1980.
• Built several Energy Efficient Homes in the mid-80’s after taking one of the first R-2000 training programs.
• Facilitated/delivered numerous Renovation Skills Training courses throughout Southern Ontario for NECA (National Energy Conservation Association), 1989 – 1994.
• Under contract with Scanada Consultants and Morrison-Hershfield Project Managers, lead 4 audit teams, testing all types (single, semi-detached, low rise multi, stacked, row housing, high rise multi, etc.) of residential buildings, testing for air tightness and indoor air quality, 1992 – 1993.
• Renovated and added spaces to homes and businesses, with a trained staff (1976 – 2015):
  • Foundation waterproofing and lot drainage
  • Basement Finishing the right way, no shortcuts
  • Building enclosure/envelope air sealing, insulation and ventilation
  • Siding and Roof Drainage Upgrades
  • Window, Door and Skylight Replacement/Installations
  • Additions, attached and second floor, General Contracting, etc.
• Facilitated Home Inspection Training Courses at Conestoga College part-time in the Continuing Education department for 15 years.
• Developed the training curriculum for the Home Flood Protection Program and was directly involved with training the first group of assessors for the Pilot Project in Burlington, 2016 – 2017. This program is in association with the Intact Centre on Climate Adaptation located at the University of Waterloo.
• Performs QA on all Assessor Reports before they are released to Homeowners, nationally, 2017 to present.
• On-call advisor to Home Inspectors and Home Flood Assessors, 2017 – Present.
• Consultant & Sr. Estimator for Blackbridge, div. of Rybo Inc., 2015 – Present.
• Facilitated the online training course for the Home Flood Risk Assessment Training course through Fleming College, 2019 – 2021
• Happily married to a retired palliative care (Community) nurse, 1975 – Present
• Involved with our two adult sons and their families, including 5 grandchildren (3 girls and 2 boys)
• Leadership involvement at Temple Baptist Church Cambridge, 1981 – Present
• Have participated in several mission trips; Japan for Fellowship Baptist in 1993, Portugal for Greater Lisbon Christian Academy in 2012 and Ukraine for Slavic Gospel Association in 2019.
